Intelligent Email Crawler
Give it a list of websites and it reads the pages where contact details actually live, then hands back the addresses it found. It runs on your machine, so your list never leaves it.
What it does
A list of 200 websites is useless until you know who to write to. Opening each one, hunting for a contact page, and copying an address takes a full day and you will still miss some.
The crawler does it while you do something else.
It runs on your computer, not ours
This is the part worth understanding. The crawler is a program you download, not a web page. The crawling happens on your own machine, using your own internet connection.
That means your prospect list never reaches our servers. We cannot see who you are about to pitch, and neither can anyone else.
How it reads a site
For each website it reads up to 18 pages — not the whole site, and not just the home page. It goes first to the pages where contact details are actually published:
- Write-for-us and guest-post guideline pages
- Contact, about and team pages
- Editorial and masthead pages
- Then a wider sweep of the site if it still has not found anything
Real addresses only
It returns 1 to 3 addresses per site, and every one of them was published on the site. It does not guess editor@ and hope. If a site publishes no address at all, it says so, and you are not charged for that site.
Editorial addresses are ranked first: a named editor outranks a generic support@, because a person answers a pitch and a support queue does not.
Two things you get free on every site
Whether or not an address is found, the crawler also brings back:
- The Write-for-Us page, if the site has one — so you can read their rules before pitching
- The contact form page, if there is one and no address
Sites that hide their address
Some sites build the address with JavaScript so it never appears in the page text. When the ordinary read finds nothing, the crawler opens the site properly in a browser on your machine and looks again. This costs you nothing extra.
What it costs
1 credit per website an address is found on. One credit whether it returns one address or three.
Sites with no email, and sites that will not load, are free — and you still get their write-for-us and contact form pages.
Sending the results onward
When a run finishes you can send the addresses straight to the Email Validator to be checked, without exporting anything. If that check fails for any reason, your crawl results are untouched and complete — a failed extra never costs you the work you already paid for.
