Get the crawler

Then: right-click the downloaded file → Extract All → double-click Start Email Crawler → paste your key when it asks. That is everything.

What it does

You give it a list of websites. It visits each one, reads the pages where contact details usually live — write-for-us, contact, about, team — and brings back the best email address it can find, plus the write-for-us page and the contact form if the site has them.

Everything happens on your computer. Your list is never uploaded to us. That is also why it is a download rather than a page: it borrows your own Chrome or Edge to read sites the way a person would.

What it costs

1 credit for each website an address is found on — whether it gives you one address or three.

You pay for results, not for effort. That is affordable precisely because the crawling runs on your machine rather than ours.

Running it

The extracted folder holds three files. The one to double-click is Start Email Crawler — the other two are the program itself and a copy of these instructions.

Your browser opens on the crawler’s own page, and a small window appears minimised in the taskbar — that window is the program. Closing it stops the page working. This website stays open in its own tab, so your key is still here if you need it again.

Paste your websites in, one per line, and press Start crawling. When you have finished, press Quit at the top right of the crawler’s page — that closes everything properly.

Windows will warn you. That is expected.

The first time you run it, Windows shows a blue box saying “Windows protected your PC” or “Unknown publisher”.

This is not a virus warning. Windows shows it for any program from a publisher it has not seen many times before, and Skilled Axis is a small company rather than Microsoft or Adobe. To get past it:

• Click More info — a small link inside the blue box
• Click Run anyway — the button that then appears

You only ever do this once.

If something goes wrong

You need an internet connection, and either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge installed. Edge comes with Windows, so you almost certainly already have it.
